Course Description
This ¾-day interactive course is for workers who operate jib cranes, portable gantry cranes, monorail cranes or workstation cranes that have electric hoists and a manually operated bridge and/or trolley. This course will teach participants to safely operate these cranes through a combination of classroom demonstration and practical instruction.
Topics include:
• Slings & rigging hardware
• Pre-operational inspection
• Load weight and centre of gravity
• Lifting, moving, and placing a load
• Safe operator positioning
Jib Crane & Rigging course objectives:
After completing this course participants will understand the following:
The principles and practices for safe operation of Jib Cranes, Portable Gantry Cranes, Monorail Cranes, and Workstation Cranes. This includes pre-operational checks, load evaluation, rigging selection and attachment, and safely lifting and moving the load.
The importance of applying these principles and practices at the workplace - Understand the operator's role in safe lifting and why it is critical to always follow best practices, to keep all affected workers safe, to comply with legislation, and to avoid rigging failure and a dropped load.
Expiry: 36 months
PPE Requirements: Safety boots and hard hat.
