Safety Advisor - Foremost Lloydminster

We are currently seeking a full-time permanent Safety Advisor for our Lloydminster, Alberta location. The right candidate will have the responsibility of advising and assisting Foremost Management with the requirements established in the health and safety management system and OHS Legislation of Alberta.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and apply knowledge of current and emerging Health and Safety strategies, procedures, regulations, and best practices.

  • Investigate incident and injuries to determine root cause and to prepare a formal report.

  • Maintain training records specific to Foremost employees and/or contractors used by Foremost.

  • Use key indicators through tracking and reporting tools to identify negative risk trends and facilitate corrective action in a timely manner.

  • Monitor the status of the HSE reporting systems and accounts that are required by customers, ISNet, Comply Works, Avetta.

  • Schedule and conduct health, safety, and environmental educational training programs necessary for success and compliance.

  • Conduct systematic safety inspections to detect hazards and unsafe working conditions, follow-up with recommendations for implementation of appropriate corrective measures.

  • Maintain a variety of records based on health, safety, and environmental activities, i.e. inspections and investigations.

  • Evaluate and implement corrective actions to remedy root causes identified, communicate throughout the company, and incorporate into the HSE program, as necessary.

  • Recommend process changes and coordinate training programs to eliminate employee exposure to hazards and to increase proficiency in safety best practices.

  • Assure that proper safety devices are in place and being used by employees and/or contractors.

  • Ensure that all employees and/or contractors have received orientation when hired.

  • Maintain awareness of amendments to the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and Code as well as any amendments to customer health, safety, and environmental standards

  • Responsible for effective claims management practices for those employees who are injured at the worksite and require WCB involvement, including claims management.

  • Analyze and report statistical trends to management to determine course of action.

  • Advise managers, supervisors and employees and coordinate preparation of Safe Work Practices and Procedures (SWPs), safety standards, and ensure that workers are informed and professionally trained in those areas.

  • Develop (SWPs) and support in preparation of health and safety policies and programs.

  • Create and maintain a culture that values effective HSE within the company through maintained knowledge, awareness, and preparedness.

 

Qualifications:

  • 5 + years of experience in HSE program development and implementation

  • Training specific to health and safety management; CRSP, NCSO, and/or MSO designation preferred.

  • Experience with Pre-Qualification systems such as ISN

  • Thorough understanding of regulations and industry best practices

  • Well organized, methodical, and proficient in administration practices

  • Outstanding communication abilities and the ability to engage managers and employees.

  • Strong computer skills are essential, proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Power Point
