Overhead Crane Operator - Train The Trainer

Course Details

Format: Classroom and practical hands-on

Duration: 3 Day

Time: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

Pre-Requisite:

1) MHSA Overhead Crane Operator & Supervisor Safety Training course within previous 12 months

2) Minimum 300 hours of overhead crane operator experience

3) Train the Trainer - Operator Experience Form”*

*At time of registration, this form will be emailed to the registrant. The completed form must be submitted prior to the course starting date.

PPE Required: Safety boots, hard hat, and gloves


Course Description

This three (3) day comprehensive course provides participants with the knowledge and skills to teach an effective MHSA Overhead Crane Operator training course and evaluate competency at their facility.

Participants will learn the instructional techniques involved to best deliver concepts in classroom theory and workplace practical training sessions.

Topics include:

  • Principles of Adult Education and Instructional Techniques

  • Effective speaking and presentation techniques

  • Alberta OH&S Legislation and referenced Standards

  • Course Material

After successful completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Demonstrate effective speaking and presentation techniques

  • Have a strong understanding of training course materials

  • Provide consistent, high quality classroom and hands-on training and evaluation that remains consistent for every course taught

The attendee (instructor) must complete 1 training course within 12 months to receive their “trainer” status and a certificate

Expiry: 36 months

Successful completion of this course allows MHSA certified Overhead Crane Operator Trainers to provide the MHSA Overhead Crane Operator training course exclusively to a single company in Alberta, i.e. the Employer of the trainer.

This training course is not intended to permit third-party training providers and/or independent consultants to provide training to the general public or other MHSA member companies.

Please note that this course is an Alberta based program and was created based on Alberta standards. This course cannot be utilized outside the province of Alberta.

Employers are also encouraged to utilize the Canada-Alberta Job Grant program to gain significant returns on training costs. The Canada-Alberta Job Grant (CAJG) is a funding program where employers and government share the cost of training new and existing employees to increase their knowledge and skills to meet the needs of Alberta’s changing economy.
