Course Description

According to the Alberta Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) Code, Part 27 Violence, Section 389, “An employer must ensure that workplace violence is considered a hazard, must develop policy and procedures respecting potential workplace violence and must instruct workers in these policies and procedures.

This four-hour course is designed to assist participants in developing an effective workplace violence and harassment prevention program for their workplace.

Topics include:

  • Alberta OH&S Code Part 27 Violence and 28 Working Alone
  • Statistical analysis
  • Types of workplace violence and harassment
  • The negative impact of workplace violence and harassment
  • Identifying potential workplace violence and harassment
  • How to avoid workplace violence and harassment
  • Developing policy and procedures
  • Implementing and enforcing a violence and harassment prevention program

By the end of this course you will:

  • Know how to implement an effective violence and harassment prevention program at your workplace
  • Recognize the signs and symptoms of potential violence and harassment situations
  • Understand Alberta OH&S legislation regarding violence and harassment
